I did it!!

My "life verse" and motto for the day today: I can do all things through Him that strengthens me. Phil 4:13 Today I conquered the Great Wall of China. For those who know me well, I don't like heights and I have trouble with motion. I was able to get through my flights, but I was not prepared for the tram/gondola that was to take up to a section of the Great Wall. Not that it was "dangerous", it was just going up a lot higher than I thought in a smaller "vehicle" than I thought. God was good and calmed my fears as I hung on to the bars and looked straight ahead as we lifted off and the trip down.
Once up, I was taken away by the view! How they built that wall I cannot comprehend - it was thousands of years ago, with no lifts, cranes, or machines and it is magnificently placed up in jagged mountains; built by men who were trying to protect themselves, their families and their villages; and it still stands today! I am in complete awe!! I also didn't know/realize that it is in sections and not all one!

Our group also saw the Cloisonne factory and how they made this beautiful enamelware. Quite the process I must say! We purchased this vase for the family and enjoyed seeing all the other amazing pieces. I had always thought this was ceramic but it is actually copper based!

Tomorrow we are off to Tianneman Square and the Forbidden City. More posting tomorrow!

Proud of you - I forgot to warn you about the gondola - oh, but maybe it's ok I didn't!?!?!? I even wondered how often they check those for safety - I know, good thing I brought that up NOW and not before, right!??!

Hey, great pics by the way!!!

Welcome to Kari"s Kafe!

Formerly the PJ Kafe, and Kari's Kafe, I am still going to sell some items on request, but this will be a posting of our journey to get our new daughter, Alexis "Lexi". I have been sewing for almost 25 years and making clothes for kids and infants is my favorite. I created this site for us to raise money for our upcoming China adoption. I guess you could say that I needed something to keep me busy while we wait! :-)
You can click on the sidebar to browse our "Menu" of dresses, pajamas, and blankets. Feel free to email me with your questions, comments, or order and I will be happy to help you ~ I want you to be pleased with your order! Keep your eyes open for possibly more items to come as the seasons change.......
